It was a super Sunday for two neighbours in the village of Tumble who are celebrating after their lucky postcode, SA14 6ES, was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on 23 June.

The win saw one of the Tyisha Road residents net themselves an impressive £30,000, while the second picked up a cheque worth a whopping £120,000 thanks to playing with four tickets.

Rosemary was delighted with her cheque for £120000

79-year-old Rosemary Jones was the lucky quadruple ticket holder. She was taken aback when she saw the six-figure sum written on her cheque and said: “I’m up in the clouds right now and have to keep pinching myself. This is life changing for me, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“I’ve lived in this house for 28 years and its really in need of a bit of TLC. I have been saving up for the home improvements, but I don’t need to do that anymore! Winning this money means I’m now in the position where I can adapt the house to suit my needs as I get older which is just fabulous, it means I won’t ever have to move from this house which holds so many good memories for me. My husband, Peter, passed away 20 years ago, so I like to think that this is his way of looking after me.”

Rosemary, a retired factory worker, lives with her daughter Denise and they play with the four tickets together. Rosemary commented: “We split the monthly cost so I’ll be sharing this prize with Denise. She was the one who encouraged me to play as well, so she definitely deserves it! When I told her how much we’d won she joked that we’d be able to buy proper butter now!”

Rosemary will be sharing her winnings with her daughter Denise

The mother daughter duo plan to put the windfall to good use by purchasing a campervan and touring around Britain. Rosemary said: “I’m not keen on going abroad but I love Wales and I don’t think we see enough of what’s on our doorstep so it’ll be lovely to travel all over this beautiful country of ours together. I’ve never been to Scotland before so who knows, we might even head north.”

While the second winner couldn’t be there to collect their prize, the money will be paid directly into their bank account.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson was in Tumble and said: “It’s always wonderful to come back home to Cymru and having the pleasure of meeting Rosemary to present her with £120,000 made it an absolute joy. I hope she, Denise and our other lucky winner enjoy treating themselves with the cash!”

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise more than £438 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Clic Sargent, which has received over £6.7 million thanks to player support. This funding is enabling the charity to provide vital emotional, practical, financial and clinical support to young cancer patients and their families.

The Welsh Air Ambulance Charitable Trust, which has an air base in Llanelli, is just one example of a charity close to the winners that players have helped to support. In 2018, the charity received £15,300 to allow it to expand its service so it can operate through the night and attend emergency missions 24 hours a day.
