THERE are a series of must see educational and entertaining exhibitions and workshops across Carmarthenshire museums over the summer.
James Dickson Innes (1887 – 1914): Parc Howard from now until August 30 has a centenary exhibition celebrating Llanelli’s James Dickson Innes (1887 – 1914), one of Wales’ finest 20th century artists.
Paintings by Edward Morland Lewis are being exhibited now until November 1 at the County Museum, Abergwili. Much of this Carmarthen-born artist’s work was inspired by the Welsh landscape.
The following events take place over the summer period:
Saturday, June 21: A children’s workshop with Charlotte Leadbeater based on the work of Edward Morland Lewis. Suitable for 7 – 11 year olds. Celebrating #Children’sArtWeek. County Museum, Abergwili.
Saturday,June 28: Legionary Lucius returns for a Roman Makeover Day with Sally Pointer and Gareth Risborough. County Museum, Abergwili.
Saturday, July 19 : The Romans are here. Join Legio II Augusta for the full Roman military experience. County Museum, Abergwili
Saturday, August 9: Comitatus – Roman cavalry display in Carmarthen. Venue to be confirmed.
The Roman events are part of the ‘Romans in Carmarthenshire Project’, a CADW Heritage Tourism Project which has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
