Ever wanted to try your hand at fly-fishing, pyrography, canoeing or bread-making?

Hobbies Weekend at the National Botanic Garden of Wales over the Whitsun bank holiday is the place to find that perfect pastime.

All around the Garden, there will be displays, demonstrations, workshops and one-to-one sessions on a huge variety of arty, crafty pastimes including knitting and crochet; dolls’ houses and dancing; wood-working and weaving; enamelling, lace-making, and astronomy.

Organiser Les Bryan says Garden visitors are in for a real treat: “It’s all set to be a tremendous Bank Holiday bonanza! The Hobbies Weekend has been a great success over the years and the Garden is a lovely setting for it. We’re very excited and hope visitors will pick up some great ideas for a new hobby.”

The bank holiday also sees the latest new chapter in the Botanic Garden’s month-long ‘Medicines in May’ festival with a weekend-long celebration of nettles.

And the University of Wales Trinity St David School of Performing Arts will be putting on an outdoor theatre show of ‘Wind in the Willows’.

Hobbies Weekend at the National Botanic Garden is on 24, 25 and 26 May from 10am-6pm each day. For more information see www.gardenofwales.org.uk call 01558 667149 or e-mail info@gardenofwales.org.uk
