WEN Wales are delighted to announce the appointment of their new Chair, Sarah Powell. Sarah is CEO of Sport Wales where she has steered the organisation through a period of significant change and growth, leading a national conversation into developing a new vision and strategy for sport in Wales. A champion for diversity, she has recently overseen the development of a new policy for gender parity on Sport Boards. Sarah will bring to WEN Wales her energy, her strong leadership skills, her ability to think strategically and her commitment to gender equality.
Frances Beecher Interim Chair of WEN Wales said ’We are delighted to welcome Sarah to our board at this significant moment in WEN Wales’ development. As we seek to grow our impact and membership, diversify our funding and strengthen our governance we are sure Sarah will be a huge asset.’
Sarah Powell, the new Chair said ‘It’s a huge honour to be WEN Wales’ new Chair – I have been impressed by the increase in WEN’s profile, the commitment of the staff and the way in which the organisation is challenging Welsh Government and all of us to re-double our efforts in creating a Wales free from gender discrimination. I look forward to working with the board, the staff team and especially WENs members to ensure we bring the women’s sector in Wales together and campaign for equality for women in Wales.’
Sarah Powell, new WEN Wales Chair will be speaking at a WEN Wales Speed Networking event in the Senedd on July 10th at 1345, where she will be opening the event and introducing WEN Wales’ new Ambassador, Dilys Price OBE who will be giving the key note speech.
