Business Wales runs a series of tailored workshops aimed at businesses who want to start or improve how they tender for contract.
Parc Dewi Sant, Carmarthen 11 June 2014 9.30am – 3.00pm
This workshop will help you develop an Environmental Management System. If you tender for public and private sector work you may need to have an EMS to help you compete for that tender.
This training course is based on the requirements of phases 1 and 2 of British Standard 8555 (BS8555) which is the UK environmental management standard. It is also relevant to you if you want to implement an EMS to Eco-Management Audit System (EMAS), ISO 14001 or Green Dragon.
The course will help you with practical tips and provide actual templates that you can use to begin the EMS process in your own business and will be delivered in a practical and down to earth format.
The course covers:
- background to procurement requirements in the UK
- types of EMS available and their relative costs
- how to carry out a baseline environmental review
- developing an environmental policy
- environmental risk management
- compliance with legislation and legal registers
- the importance of utility and waste monitoring
- how to construct an EMS Improvement Plan
- the importance of continual improvement
- the external audit and what to expect
