A scheme has been piloted in the Llanelli Rural area to protect vulnerable people from rogue traders.

A joint initiative between Carmarthenshire County Council’s Trading Standards team, Police and Local Health Board has been seeking to identify vulnerable members of the community open to being targeted by rogue traders. This initiative has already identified a number of vulnerable victims in the Llanelli rural area.

Police are also working with Trading Standards on the national scams hub where a list of victims is compiled in relation to telephone and mail scams and are visited to try to make them aware of these scams. Victims are often very elderly and live alone, and it is vital to raise awareness of how vulnerable they are to being taken advantage of.
