Reducing re-offending remains a key priority for the Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership.
The partnership has worked with agencies including the police and probation services to establish a new Integrated Offender Management scheme in Carmarthenshire called ‘Trawsnewid/Transform’ which began on November 1 last year.
A team of police and probation officers based together target key offenders – those who cause most harm to communities and those who can be diverted from the criminal justice system such as first time offenders. The police have been monitoring a new way of dealing with young people and will be introducing a new process from June.
The scheme also involves targeting key places such as town centres and the night-time economy making use of CCTV, and working together with NightLight, Special Constables, and tackling key problems including drugs offences working with the Drug Intervention Programme.
