MOON walking, shine walking and Night Riding don’t come easy for cancer charity champion Tracey John.  She is normally tucked up in bed at 9pm.

But inspired by family, friends and work colleagues touched by cancer and some incredible individuals on the cancer marathons she has been involved in over the last year Tracey is on a mission raising money for women’s cancer charities.

Walking 22.6-miles with thousands of women in the bras under the light of the moon across London twice in recent years, Tracey from High Street, Llanelli, last month joined 2,000 in a Ride the Night challenge round London.

While she has been pounding the beat Tracey has been beating the pounds. As well as raising hundreds of pounds for ovarian, cervical and breast cancer Tracey has seen her weight plummet from more than 18 to 13-stone.

Tracey said: “It is a massive challenge for me because I am an overweight 48-year-old but the big bonus as well as raising the cash has been a massive improvement in my own health and wellbeing.

“What has affected me more are the inspiration people I have met at feeding stations on the marathons and crashed out after the challenges. The stories these cancer warriors tell will move you to tears.”

Tracey was touched by the courage shown be her own mum and mother-in-law and a work colleague who had been “truely inspirational” enduring chemotherapy treatments.

She frequently gets out training on her bike on Llanelli Millennium Coastal Path cycleway saying she could not believe how wonderful the facilities are on her own doorstep. She admits too, her husband XXXXX has been entirely supportive and joins her on her training offering advice and support.

As well as cycling and walking Tracey has run a coffee and cake fundraiser in work and is planning her most ambitious marathon yet, entering the Cycle Africa 2015 challenge, as well as re-entering the London Ride the Night in 2015.
