On Saturday 27th July, a team of Lung Cancer Doctors from Hywel Dda University Health Board cycled around all the hospitals in Hywel Dda in one day!
Starting at Prince Philip Hospital at 6.00am calling at Amman Valley, Llandovery, Tregaron, Bronglais, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Withybush, South Pembs, Tenby and finally Glangwili. In total they cycled 206 miles with 4700 mitres of climbing. They crossed the Black Mountains, the Cambrian Mountains and the Preseli Mountains, plus lots and lots of smaller hills. They are raising awareness of Lung Cancer and raising money to support the Lung Cancer Nurses across Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Dr Gareth Collier, Chest Physician said:
“Myself and two doctors from the respiratory department completed our own Tour De Hywel Dda cycle ride, visiting all hospitals across the health board. Starting at Prince Philip, passing Amman Valley, Llandovery, Tregaron, Bronglais, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Withybush, South Pembs, Tenby and finishing at Glangwili. We completed 206 miles and 4700m of climbing taking 17 hours. We did this to raise money for the Lung Cancer nurse specialists across Hywel Dda, who do such a fantastic job of supporting patients with lung cancer. We would like to thank all those who have donated for their kindness and supported us on the day.”
