Glamorgan Cricket is excited to announce the signing of West Indian batsman Kraigg Brathwaite as our overseas signing for the final three Specsavers County Championship matches of the season.

He will replace Shaun Marsh, who returns to Western Australia ahead of the upcoming domestic season.

Brathwaite has scored 9,179 runs in first-class cricket at an average of almost 39, with 21 centuries and 48 half-centuries.

He made his Test debut as a 19-year-old against Pakistan, and has since played 57 Test matches, hitting eight centuries and 17 half-centuries with a high score of 212 against Bangladesh in 2014.

The opener scored 134 & 95 against England at Headingley in 2017 to help West Indies to a famous five-wicket victory, and also has Test centuries against New Zealand, England and Pakistan and South Africa.

“I am very excited about joining up with Glamorgan, and I hope that I can help contribute to the team in their important final few games of the season.

I really enjoy playing cricket in England and Wales, and I will be doing my best to add as many runs and wickets as possible to help the team’s cause,” said Brathwaite.

Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said, “We are very happy to have a player of Kraigg’s quality joining us for the final stretch of the season at short notice.

“We are up there in the race for the top three and we believe that Kraigg’s ability with the bat and his international experience will be of great benefit to the club, and to the players around him.

“He’s played some great knocks all over the world, and with previous experience in these conditions with the West Indies, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, we are confident he will hit the ground running.”
