The owners of a Welsh holiday park business have purchased a fourth site in Narberth, Pembrokeshire after receiving a seven-figure finance package from HSBC UK.
Barker’s Leisure Holiday Parks, owned and run by husband and wife duo William and Shivaun Barker, has used the commercial loan from the bank to acquire Heron’s Brook retreat, a luxury holiday park in the heart of the Pembrokeshire countryside.
Heron’s Brook, which is marketed by Hoseasons and features in its highest-rated ‘Autograph’ range, includes an 18-hole golf course, as well as 20 top-of-the-range lodges complete with hot tubs.
With the new site, William and Shivaun will look to expand their staff numbers over the coming months while keeping existing jobs safe.
The lodges will be available for short stay accommodation or ‘staycations’, a holiday trend that has grown in demand.
William Barker, owner of Barker’s Leisure Holiday Parks, said:
“Over the past few years we have seen an increase in demand for short stay accommodation, particularly for luxury lodging, so it has been a key part of our growth strategy to purchase a new site. Having been customers of HSBC UK since 2000, we’re thrilled to have secured this funding and have the support of the team and in particular our Relationship Manager Andrew Drummond who has been a fantastic support towards us realising our ambitions.”
Phil Sargeant, HSBC UK’s Business Banking Area Director for South Wales, said:
“With almost two decades working within the holiday industry, William and Shivaun are experienced business owners and a great example of successful local entrepreneurs. HSBC UK values its long-standing customers so we’re proud to continue to support them in this venture and we wish them every success in their future endeavours.”
William and Shivaun plan to further expand the site, with an additional 10 lodges over the next year, supported by further bank backing.
