Views of the night by Barry Bungalow

The ramblings of ‘Bungle Oh’ as he saw things on the night!!!

Already a change to the norm as Llanelli Music Scene hosts their Band of the Month event on a Friday night as opposed to the usual Saturday . But none the less, as they say, ‘the show must go on’. So on that note – introducing the opening act …

Navale Cox – a very  Kelly Jones (Stereophonics singer)  style of voice on a young guitar playing soloist. Playing a wide range of covers, including (Oh Lordy, I’ve Travelled So High – or – Troublesome Guy) as well as playing a few of his own songs.

An impressive performance by Navale, that got a positive reaction from the whole crowd after every song. Playing a variety of music, ranging from ‘white reggae’ to pop rock, and even classic rock.

Overall, it was  a great opening set and  well performed.

Headlining the night….

Kable – a 3 piece band, that in their first few songs, proved why they are this month’s band of the month. Ranging in their guitar riffs from  hard rock, through pop punk with a large pinch of 90’s bands like Oasis added in there, all wrapped up with an indie rock feel, mixed and matched to produce the amazing sound they played.

The band consisting of a drummer, a bassist and a guitarist, and mixing the vocals between the two at the front of the stage. A very entertaining band, that mixed their own music with some very iconic covers, which were played to perfection.

A surprisingly ‘big venue’ sound from the band, that is something I never thought I would get to hear tonight. And playing an encore and a crowd request, is just another reason I think this band has proved themselves worthy of being called Band Of The Month for July 2014.

Although the night started off feeling a bit weird, at least to me, both acts were awesome, and the crowd contributed well to the performances as well – so overall it was a fantastic night.  I would highly recommend going to see both the acts who played. Thank you both, and all the best in any of your up and coming shows, and I hope to see you again.
