New PAYE tools for employers

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have launched the new Basic PAYE Tools‘ to replace the Employer CD-Rom. The new online resource includes all the CD-Rom’s interactive features plus an automatic update facility, to ensure the tools are up-to-date with the latest information and figures.

Employers who have used the CD-Rom will need the new tools for the remainder of the 2010-11 tax year and for future years. You can access further information and download the new Basic PAYE Tools from our guide on using HMRC’s Basic PAYE Tools.

Employer email alert service

HMRC strongly recommends that employers keep up to speed with other important PAYE developments by signing up to their free email alerts. You can find a link to sign up to the email alerts in our guide on employer publications email alert service. HMRC will no longer be mailing hard copies of guidance to employer, so these alerts are now the best way to ensure employers are up-to-date with PAYE issues.

You can also access PAYE information, forms and guidance in our guide on forms and publications for employers. Paper versions are now only available in limited circumstances from the Employer Orderline.

If employers are using the employer database on the 2010 Employer CD-Rom they must make sure it is updated so that it is compatible with the tools. You can find more information about the Employer CD-Rom 2010 compatibility on the HMRC website – Opens in a new window.
