Poisoning of Sandy Water Park's only black swan

Another sad morning!

We were called out to Sandy Water Park because the beautiful, black swan was in distress. The RSPCA attended promptly and managed to catch and remove the bird, it was too weak and disorientated to put up a fight.

It is believed to be suffering from lead poisoning after ingesting discarded fishing weights. The prognosis is very poor and this magnificent creature, it will probably have to be euthanized. Sickening!! Jo x

Update: The RSPCA have phoned me to say that the swan was in too bad a condition to save. She had to be euthanized and lead poisoning was the verdict!
