Solar or Wind Tips and Technologies

Renewable technologies are very hot topics and will continue to be as long as fuel prices rise and the new feed in tariffs continue… Yes you can get paid to produce solar and wind power every year for at least twenty years and use the free electricity produced by them……see link

Using Less is even smarter than these smart technologies

BUT don’t get too carried away their great technologies and they really lower your carbon footprint……… So what’s the downside?

There isn’t really a downside but you should use less before you even think of using them, saving energy is a far better and cheaper way to save on your bills and save the planet.

Also they are costly to install so all the energy you get from them should be wisely used

Plan and Plan Ahead

Considering developing a new building or refurbishing want to do it in a sustainable low carbon way, then you need to plan well ahead don’t leave this until the last minute, the most effective, easiest and cheapest way is to think of insulation, passive solar gain, and renewable technologies right from the start, when you are drawing up your initial plans.

Don’t get carried away

Solar and Wind technologies work but only if they are installed at the right location and for the right type of building.   The simplest example solar photovoltaics that produce electricity need to be on a southerly slope with no shading.

Can’t afford to install a solar array

Everyone can get involved in lowering their carbon footprint, such as using less energy in their homes, reducing car mileage, sharing journeys, and buying local produce.    There are also smaller more affordable purchases such as solar lighting with sensors, (make sure you buy the ones that have separate panels so you can point them in the right direction) for out in the garden or for security lighting at your door or parking area.
