A replica of Dylan Thomas’s iconic writing shed in Laugharne is visiting this week’s National Eisteddfod.
The shed, which is touring the UK as part of theDT100 celebrations, even has the curled pictures on the walls and the view over the estuary.
It has been popping up at places and events across the country, and is now spending the week at Festival Fields to give Eisteddfod-goers the opportunity to visit it.
The shed is one of many features and events to celebrate DT100 – the 100th year of the anniversary of the birth of Dylan Thomas, Wales’s most famous bard.
Visitors are encouraged to make up a new word which will be published in a Dictionary of Dylan, in honour of his love of words.
Other activities are also planned for the DT100 festival which will celebrate the life and work of the famous bard.
They will include events in Laugharne, home of the Boathouse and Writing Shed made famous by Dylan.
The Boathouse itself will host a number of activities and events throughout the year including a series of Dylan Weekends, each with a different focus ranging from poetry and biography, to music and film, radio and comedy.
A Dylan Thomas Boathouse Flash Mob will develop the performance of young people across South and West Wales over several months resulting in a surprise performance during 2014 to commemorate the centenary of Dylan’s birth.
There will also be a number of artists and poets in residence at the Boathouse during the year.
