The next stop on the Wales Ales 12 Beers of Christmas round-up of festive delights takes us to Bridgend and the home of Bang-On Brewery. Fittingly established in the winter of 2016 it was the first brewery in Bridgend for 80 years, since then a few more have come along to join the ranks. The brewer is a trained chef so they’ve come up with a novel idea to pair 3 beers with your Christmas meal. These are available in gift sets either directly from the brewery or you can catch them at various Christmas Markets throughout South Wales.
First up is Amuse-Bouche is a new IPA designed to awaken the palate and is the perfect beer to start Christmas Dinner with. A pale ale coming in at a sessionable 4% will pair perfectly with starters of cheese and biscuits, breads and salad.
Chardonnale is a 7.1% pale ale that’s made with white wine yeast and is fermented in the traditional winemakers way. It’s the perfect accompaniment for the main course! As the name suggests it is about as close to a wine/beer as you can get and at 7.1% it is sure to get you in a merry mood.
BLACK FOREST GATEAU STOUT 3.7% abv
Last but not least, we always have room for pudding and the final in the installment is a Black Forest Gateau Stout. It is a chocolatey Stout packed full of dark berry flavours and is the perfect dessert beer and at a modest 3.7% is perfect to finish off a fun-filled Christmas meal.
Next on our selection of Yule Tide beers takes us to a new brewery called Little Goat Brewery who also have 3 festive offerings including a devilishly good stout called “Satan’s Little Helper”!
