Pupils from Llanishen High have been so successful in collecting hampers for the elderly that they have broadened out the donated hampers to other charities including children and young people supported by Action for Children.
Pupils and staff presented the hampers to Nina Rice from Action for Children at the school and will be distributed to families throughout the Cardiff and South Wales area.
Dan White, Director of Mathematics at Llanishen High, said: ‘The students took so much joy and pride in putting the hampers together, with the whole school community contributing. It is part of our hidden curriculum to foster caring and compassionate young people.’
Nina Rice, Area Fundraising Manager for Action for Children in Wales, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to receive the beautiful Christmas hampers from Llanishen High. It was wonderful to meet such committed young people who wanted to help some of the people in our communities who need it most, young or old. These hampers will brighten Christmas for families we support and make a huge difference to the festive period. On behalf of Action for Children and all those who will benefit from such amazing generosity, thank you very much.’
