THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME FOR A BEER (PART 5)

As we come closer to the big day we’re heading even further West to Pembrokeshire to finish off our features on the extended ‘12 beers of Christmas‘.   Wales Ales have again produced their legendary ‘12 Beers of Christmas‘ pack which is the country’s only fully Welsh Christmas beer set, representing Yuletide delights from all over Wales.  Today we look at what treats Bluestone Brewery have under their tree.

Bluestone Brewing is an exciting, eco-friendly family run brewery situated in the foothills of the Preseli Hills in North Pembrokeshire. They produce hand crafted real ales, using local water filtered down through the Bluestone Hills to produce a range of flavoursome Rock Solid Ales.

For the winter season they’ve released 2 exciting beers enough to fill anyone’s stocking!

Chimney Stack 4.3% abv

First up is Chimney Stack which has proved so popular it is returning for another winter outing.  An ode to the old Scottish taxation system of beers. The highest quality beers were taxed at 90 shillings. A smooth, medium-bodied, amber ale balanced with classic American Cascade Hops.  Available in both cask in pubs and bottles.

 

Stone Cold IPA 4.2% abv

The second offering from Bluestone is a return of their popular winter pale ale Stone Cold IPA.  A session Rye Pale Ale with simple malt base to bring out the best of the Sorachi Ace, Simcoe and Equinox hops, producing both citrusy and herbal undertones.  Available in bottles.

 

 

We’ll be finishing off our look at festive winter warmers by doing a round-up on Christmas Eve.  We’ve had a look at various offerings from Dog’s Window and Bang On in Bridgend, Little Goat and Mumbles from the Swansea area and Bluestone from Pembrokeshire.  We’ll conclude by looking at a selection of other beers from all over Wales from the likes of Tudor, Glamorgan, Tiny Rebel, Zepto and Purple Moose.
