Budget consultation deadline approaches

There are just a few days left to have your say on Neath Port Talbot Council’s proposals to balance the budget for 2020/21 and beyond. The consultation will close on Tuesday 4 February 2020.

The Council has proposed ways to make cuts to spending and to generate income and is eager to get feedback on these, and to receive any alternative suggestions for meeting its budget shortfall of £2.1 million next year.

Cllr. Carol Clement-Williams, Cabinet Member for Finance said:

“We know that people in the county borough care about public services and how they are delivered and I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond to the consultation so far.

“We want to know what people think of the proposals, how the proposals might affect people if they go ahead and any suggestions for alternative ways of easing the pressure on the budget.

“There is still time to have your say before the consultation closes on 4 February, and I would really encourage everyone to do so.”

The Council is urging residents, community groups, third sector organisations, charities and local businesses to comment on the proposals. A full list of the proposals and a link to an online feedback form can be found by selecting the ‘consultation’ button at www.npt.gov.uk/haveyoursay . Alternatively, paper copies of the feedback form and boxes for posting completed forms can be found at civic buildings, libraries and other public buildings across the county borough.

Final decisions on setting the Council’s Budget for 2020/21 will be taken in March, taking into account the responses to the public consultation.
