Zumba lovers in Llanelli are being urged to go pink for charity.

On Friday, October 24, Llanelli Leisure Centre is holding a Zumbathon to raise money for breast cancer.

It is hoped male and female aged 14 plus will turn out in force and parade their dance moves in the sports hall dressed in the colour pink.

The one hour event between 12-1pm, organised by the council’s Actif fitness instructors, coincides with breast cancer awareness month and marks national Wear it Pink day.

The council’s activity coordinator, Mari Jones said: “This promises to be a fun, vibrant and energetic event that will attract many women and men as Breast Cancer is close to everyone’s heart. Equally keeping fit and healthy should be at the top of everyone’s agenda.”

Every year Wear it Pink raises over £2 million for breast cancer. Over 50,000 women and around 350 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Around 12,000 women and 80 men will die from breast cancer each year. Breast cancer is the second biggest cause of death from cancer in women. People are surviving longer thanks to advances in research, new treatments, earlier diagnosis, breast screening and breast cancer awareness
