Dear Editor

I’m worried about our future.

Not because we’re leaving the EU, but because now that it is out of the picture, a worrying amount of our older generations have begun setting their sights on the Senedd as the source of all their problems.

It’s true that it’s doing poorly under Labour and Tory management. Neither of the English parties are doing anything to address the concerns of the Welsh public and it’s causing a lot of frustration and anger towards devolution.

It’s going to get worse after the closure of the Royal Glamorgan Hospital’s A&E services. Online groups protesting the closure are already being flooded with propaganda and slogans like “THE GRAVY TRAIN MUST BE STOPPED!!!”, and it’s actually swaying people’s opinions.

A Wales without a government. A Wales without a voice. A Wales out-competed in business. A Wales drained of its talent and youth. Islwyn Ffowc Elis’s novel “Wythnos yng Nghymru Fydd” and his vison of a barren “Western England” might actually end up being prophetic if nothing is done.

I’m not saying that the end is nigh, but the fight for an independent Wales may soon become a fight for its survival.

Yours sincerely
