IT’S that time of year when Carmarthenshire County Council workers undertake the usual ‘sprucing up’ works in the town centre streets before the Christmas shopping season is launched with the Carnival and reindeer parade.

The bespoke benches in the square will be taken away to be repainted at the end of October for about two weeks, and the new canopies and paving in Stepney Street and Vaughan Street will be cleaned through.

Council Leader Cllr Kevin Madge said: “The town has improved so much since the £60m investment over the last few years and confidence has grown. Llanelli has changed for the better, and following the success of the Retrofest we hope that local residents will continue to support their town centre.”

Executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “Llanelli town centre has so much to offer, I’m sure people will be able to find gifts to suit all needs. Come and enjoy a pleasant few hours, shopping with our local independent businesses and relaxing in some of the cafes and restaurants that we now have here.”
