Local shopkeepers and major retailers have been cooperating with the Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership in restricting the sale of flour and eggs over the Halloween period.
Neighbourhood policing teams and council trading standards and enforcement officers have been visiting shops in the run up to the celebrations to seek the support of shops.
Many have agreed to take products including eggs and flour off their shelves for the duration of Halloween, and instead have them for sale behind the counter.
They have also agreed to place posters in their windows and by their till-points to advise customers of the restrictions.
The move is part of Operation BANG (Be A Nice Guy), which sees the police, council and fire service work together to ensure Halloween celebrations are enjoyed by everyone.
The key message is to have fun, but be safe, and considerate to those who do not wish to take part.
Cllr Pam Palmer, Chair of the Carmarthenshire Community Safety Partnership, said: “We are very grateful to all local shops and big retailers who once again are cooperating with us in our efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour. We want to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable Halloween, whether they want to celebrate or not.”
Free downloadable posters have also been produced for residents who would prefer that trick or treat callers give them a miss.
