Carmarthen, Ammanford and Llanelli libraries are having the same opening and closing times.

As from Monday, November 3 the three libraries will open and close six days a week respectively.

The move is part of an improved and modern service as well as being more accessible to its users.

Over 95,000 members already enjoy the council’s library service which offers free membership for all ages, with over one million items available to borrow including DVDs, CDs, audio books and books. In addition, nearly 365,000 non members use our popular services across the county including the new free family history service which provides genealogy training and access to Ancestry.com and FindMyPast.com. All libraries provide free internet access, e-magazines, e-books as well as unrestricted use of Theory Test pro and Wi-Fi. Printing and photocopying facilities are also available.

Families of those researching their family history are being encouraged to come along and catch up on reading their favourite magazine or newspaper over a coffee.

The council’s library services manager, Mark Jewell said: “We are pleased to be able to offer new opening and closing times which forms part of a vibrant and modern library service. The new times will also make it easier for people in our communities to access.”

Libraries also provide a network of meeting rooms as well as local hubs offering community space where groups can engage with the community including storytime, craft sessions, book clubs and knitting groups.

Opening times from November 3: Monday and Thursday 9am – 7pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am – 6pm and Saturday 9am – 5pm. For further information email library@carmarthenshire.gov.uk, https://www.facebook.com/CarmsLibraries
