With a number of frontline players injured in the region’s victory in the European Champions Cup on Saturday the medical staff and coaches have been assessing the squad’s fitness ahead of the Guinness PRO12 clash against Zebre Rugby this Saturday.
Second row Richard Kelly, himself a late replacement for Jake Ball, was replaced at the half hour mark on Saturday by Lewis Rawlins and was later taken to Morriston hospital where he received surgery to a fractured radius on Sunday. Kelly has been discharged and will be sidelined for up to four months.
Lewis Rawlins left the field of play on the 74th minute and will have a scan on his hamstring today, Tuesday 28th October.
Number 8 Rory Pitman received a stinger to his neck on the 11th minute and will be re-assessed by Scarlets medical team later this week.
Winger Jordan Williams, who replaced second row Rawlins in the victory over Leicester Tigers, will not be available for selection this weekend due to concussion.
Eight of the region’s players; Emyr Phillips, Samson Lee, Rhodri Jones, Jake Ball, Rhodri Williams, Rhys Priestland, Scott Williams and Liam Williams went in to Wales camp yesterday and will be managed by WRU medical staff during the Autumn Internationals.
