Llanelli Dad to take on Welsh Three Peaks for children’s charities

A daring Dad will be taking on the Welsh Three Peaks on Saturday 13^th June 2020 as a way of raising money for the charities close to his and his family’s hearts.

Mike Jayne, from Llanelli, will be trekking, with friends Paul Evans and Michael Lewis, in aid of the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity, The Brain Tumour Charity, Make-A-Wish UK and Dreams & Wishes after they helped his 13 year old daughter, Lily-Marie.

He said “When our daughter went for a routine MRI scan on 2^nd August 2019, we were not prepared for the phone call we received. It was a doctor/nurse telling us we needed to get to the hospital right away as they’d found something on the scan. It was a brain tumour. Our world was turned upside down and very scary at the flick of a switch.

Lily-Marie was rushed to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff and was admitted to Ladybird ward. She had surgery on the 5^th August and shocked all of us, including the medical staff, with how well she came through it. Days after the procedure she was so positive and determined to get better. She was so strong and courageous. We had visits from the Play Specialists and Emma and Nico (the therapy dog) which made the experience more bearable. All the staff, from catering, to the nurses, surgeons and Drs made the experience a little better for us as well as Lily-Marie. They looked after her with so much dignity and passion. They are absolute stars and don’t get enough credit.”

The Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity supports the only children’s hospital for Wales, which provides world class care, helping to ensure the best outcome and experience possible for the young patients who receive treatment there.  It funds state of the art equipment that save lives and makes treatment more bearable for young patients – right from the first days of life.   The charity also funds facilities that make it possible for families to spend as much time as possible together during their stay and support services that make the hospital experience less stressful, helping to sprinkle some fun and normality in to their everyday lives.
