Sonic the Hedgehog Review.

Upon viewing this movie, I was somewhat optimistic in my predicted overall verdict. However, the optimism came to be, short-lived by the time the movie ended. Don’t get me wrong, I felt this did provide a lot of fun-filled entertainment for the whole family but for me, there just seemed to be something missing from the experience. I remember when I was a kid, my sister and I used to play Sonic on our portable Sega Megadrive’s. In the end, other than the fan service, I think the thing that was missing was the feeling my sister and I used to get when we played the game. This film for me felt, too hyper and too, rushed. Overall, I wanted to love it, but unfortunately, I didn’t. I suggest the run-time be significantly more than ninety-nine minutes.

However, given the fact of how I feel about this film, I cannot complain about the performance value. The voice of Sonic (Ben Schwartz) felt suited for the role and is a very lovable character. Tom Wachowski played by James Marsden, if you ask me, seemed passable as a character. Honestly, I’ve never seen him as a memorable actor, but he did a decent job in this film. As for the evil Doctor Robotnik, played by Jim Carrey, I would say he was the most intense character in the entire movie. When it comes to Jim Carrey, you cannot go wrong. I love him in everything he does. In retrospect, this film could’ve been only about his character, and love it more.

Again in retrospect, I suppose there’s a danger in hiring such a huge A-lister as Carrey if you’re going to mix him in a cast of average actors. The film seemed to be more about him than Sonic himself. But then again, Carrey steals the spotlight every single time. But then that’s only my opinion.

All in all, I give Sonic the Hedgehog a rating of 7/10. If you have any opinions on this article, please let us know in the comment section. Thanks for reading.
