Penllergare Valley Woods Walk. Saturday 8th November. Meet 10am in the car park. Please let us know if you will be joining us via our Fb page HERE or email me: trixie@waleswildlifewatch.org.uk
Penllergare Valley Woods (Official) is a beautiful wooded area created in 19th century. It was overgrown and disused for many years but is now subject to an extensive restoration program. It’s a haven for wildlife and has an abundance of moths, butterflies, dragonflies, birds, damselflies, bats, birds along with a plethora of both wild, native plants and more exotic, imported flora.
The ground can be muddy and uneven in places and there are a few challenging slopes and crossing places so, sensible footwear, please. We do have a few walking poles that we can loan out for the walk.
We will follow the winding River Llan through the woods, crossing a few small bridges. We’ll head towards the lower lake and wander past the small quarry then head back to the river and make our way back up the valley for a much deserved cuppa in the coffee shop. The walk will take approximately, 2 hrs 30 mins and, as usual, will be at a leisurely pace.
