In an open letter to Carmarthenshire County Councillors, Catch Up chair Eunydd Thomas has highlighted the benefit that the organisation brings to the residents of the county. Since 2000, the organisation has secured over £38 million for the most vulnerable of the County!
Dear Councillor
I am writing to bring to your attention an essential service, that the people you represent may find beneficial. The service set up by CATCHUP has been available for many years and is supported by a financial contribution from Carmarthenshire County Council. For the last 7 years we have received £46,000 per year.
Since the year 2000 the staff of CATCHUP have secured for their clients £38. 6 million pounds. The service provided is completely free, and aims to ensure that benefit claimants receive their proper entitlement. Within the County there are many people who find themselves faced with the bureaucracy of the benefits system.
These people are oftenvulnerable, confused, and unable to understand the application forms. The staff of CATCHUP are very knowledgeable and experienced at working within the confines of Government regulations. Their support extends from simple form filling, confidential consultation, to home visits and full representation at appeals and tribunals. Of course the sums secured make a major contribution to the GDP of Carmarthenshire,s economy.
The general running of the Company ensures that officers of the authority hold review meetings three times per year, The Trustees meet monthly to oversee all aspects of day to day running. The CATCHUP office receives referrals from Care & Repair, Social workers attached to Adult and Children,s Services. Prince Phillip and West Wales General Hospitals. We receive referrals from Mind, District nurses, local offices of the Department of Works & Pensions, Housing Associations, and many support groups.
I do hope the above has been of interest to you, If you have any queries, or wish to refer someone in your area, please feel free to contact us.
Yours Sincerely
Eunydd Thomas
Chairman of Trustees.
