Find out how you can reduce the unwanted mail you receive by visiting one of the road shows being held in the county.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s recycling team are holding the events as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (November 22-30).

The road shows will be held in:

  • Morrisons in Carmarthen on Tuesday, November 25
  • Co-op in Cross Hands on Wednesday, November 26
  • The Elli Centre in Llanelli on Friday, November 28

All road shows will be held from 10am-2pm.

The average (adult) person received 65 pieces of addressed junk mail per year. Reducing or completely stopping the junk mail can be achieved by following three simple steps:

Deregister your address with the Mail Preference Service (MPS) – around 25% of households are registered with the MPS

For unaddressed regional junk mail contact Royal Mail

Ask for your address to be removed from their database or phone/write to the company sending you unwanted mail and ask to be removed from their mailing lists.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for Technical Services, Cllr Colin Evans, said: “Receiving junk mail can be annoying but staff will be on-hand on these three dates to help and give information to people on how to stop receiving this unwanted mail.”

If you are unable to attend the above road shows the information will also be available at the council’s Customer Service desks in the county.
