SUPPORT SPRING CLEAN CYMRU 2020
Neil Hamilton, AM for Mid & West Wales, and Leader of UKIP is calling on his constituents to take part in a national campaign to clean up Wales.
Mr Hamilton, a member of the Climate Change, Environment and Rural Affairs committee, is urging volunteers to get involved with Spring Clean Cymru 2020 from March 20 – April 13.
He said:
“I always welcome this annual initiative and applaud Keep Wales Tidy for all the good work they do. Litter is a terrible eyesore wherever it appears, but particularly on the coast and in the countryside.
“Wales can boast some of the most beautiful beaches and landscapes in the world and I hope everyone who can will lend their support and help to keep our heritage clean and tidy.
“Spring Clean Cymru is a great way of bringing communities together and encouraging people to take pride in their local area. I am delighted to see so many clean-ups planned across Mid & West Wales and I would urge anyone interested to get involved, either by taking part or organising an event.
“It is also good to encourage children to participate so we can help to educate them in the importance of not desecrating their environment by thoughtless littering and graffiti.
“We can, and should, all play our part in keeping the beaches and countryside litter free, not only for tourists but for our own communities.”
Spring Clean Cymru, is part of the Great British Spring Clean and is a nationwide campaign to encourage people across the country to get together and help clean up Wales.
Its aim is to inspire thousands of people to join forces to collect and safely dispose of litter from streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible.
Last year over 563,163 people, including 175,055 students, volunteered their time to take part in the campaign which was the biggest ever.
Many events are already planned across Wales, from beach cleaning along the Pembrokeshire Coast, to clearing up litter on footpaths and lay-bys in Radnor.
