A MAN and his stepson have been ordered to pay over £1,000 for being found guilty of dumping two large bags of builders waste in Swiss Valley.

Nigel Donald David Davies, aged 45 and Shannan Martin Thomas aged 22, both of Penyfan Road, Llanelli pleaded guilty to the offences by post.

Thomas admitted dumping the rubbish in Swiss Valley on two occasions and was fined £330. He was also ordered to pay £117 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

Davies – because he had allowed his stepson to use his vehicle for the purposes of disposing of controlled waste on two occasions – was fined a total of £500. He was also ordered to pay £117 costs and £25 victim surcharge.

The prosecutions were brought by Carmarthenshire County Council.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said he hoped the case would help to raise awareness that fly-tipping is a criminal offence. He added: “The council is committed to tackling fly-tipping. We all have a part to play in keeping our communities clean and I would urge anyone with information which may help to catch offenders to please contact the council. “
