Carmarthenshire County Council officers are busy signposting residents and businesses to sources of Covid-19 advice and support. Since a new phone response service went live at the end of last week, officers have already responded to over 120 queries. The new phone response service is now available on 01267 234567, in addition to usual council services accessible through the number. It’s running seven days a week between 8.30am and 6pm.
Residents and businesses can also visit our website for up-to-date information on council services and Covid-19 support. This includes lists of Covid-19 support groups throughout Carmarthenshire and businesses going the extra mile to support residents.
Cllr David Jenkins, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Executive Board Member for Resources, said: “Council officers from all services have stepped up to the plate to confront a considerable challenge, and they should be commended for their efforts. The new Covid-19 phone response service available via 01267 234567 has already been a source of reassurance, guidance and support to residents and businesses, but I’d also encourage people to keep up to date with latest news and information on our website too. As well as signposting people to sources of Covid-19 support for businesses and the vulnerable, the new phone response service is also on hand to link people who want to volunteer with organisations in their communities where need is identified.”
Business support announced by the council includes County Council business tenants, who operate private businesses from County Council owned properties, being entitled to rent holidays of up to three months. A small business hardship relief fund will also be available to non-council tenants who are suffering a loss in income or hardship as a consequence of the Coronavirus.
