Llanelli Town Council – COVID 19

The following provides an update on the current position in relation to Town Council Facilities during the COVID 19 crisis.

In a joint statement, Llanelli Town Council Leader Cllr Shahana Najmi and Opposition Leader Cllr David Darkin stated that ‘The Town Council’s first priority is to ensure the safety of the residents of the Llanelli community. During these difficult and challenging times we call on the people of Llanelli to continue to support each other and to follow National and Local advice in relation to social distancing and hand washing. Please also continue to use the Carmarthenshire County Council and Public Health Wales websites to obtain up-to-date information. All residents have a duty to follow this advice to ensure the virus’ spread is minimised’.

The Llanelli Town Council Offices at The Old Vicarage, Town Hall Square are now closed to the public. Contact can still be made with the office via our phone number 01554 774352 and email enquiries@llanellitowncouncil.gov.uk

All Llanelli Town Council Community Centres are now closed, these are:

• Glenalla Community Centre, Glenalla Road, SA15 1EE
• Lakefield Community Centre, Lakefield Road, SA15 2UE
• Llanerch Community Centre, Heol Nant y Felin, SA15 3PA
• Paddock Street Community Centre, Paddock Street, SA15 2RU
• St Barnabas Community Centre, Llewelyn Street, SA15 1BD
• Wesleyan Community Centre, Campbell Street, SA15 2BW

The Selwyn Samuel Centre is closed until further notice. The Centre will be being used for the provision of extra bed space for secondary care provision by Hywel Dda University Health Board

The Town Council will, following national and local guidelines will today also be closing all enclosed play areas under the Council’s management, these include:

• Crown Park
• Havelock Park
• Morfa Park
• Peoples’ Park
• Penyfan Park

The open space at these parks will remain open currently with all residents reminded of the absolute necessity to keep a distance of at least 2m from other users.
