On Thursday 27th November, Plaid Cymru Llanelli hosted an evening ‘What next for Wales’ with guest speaker Dafydd Wigley at the Queen Victoria Club, Llanelli.

Plaid Llanelli Westminster candidate, Vaughan Williams said:

“Another approach is possible. Let us proudly exclaim that we are indeed putting Wales before Westminster and Llanelli before London – we are working for Wales and all her people. It doesn’t matter where you’re from; it’s where we’re going to that matters – the journey we are on. Let’s talk Wales up, let’s promote our nation, and let’s have some ambition, spirit and desire for our nation and all her people. As a teacher, let’s start by talking the youngsters of Wales up – the talent we have across our nation is something to behold and feast your eyes on. Let’s have a can do attitude not a can’t don’t attitude. Our opponents will talk Wales down and be downcast at every turn, we must talk Wales up, rejoice and celebrate at what we can do and where we can go.

“We must point out the wrongs of the past but offer a beacon of optimism for the future. It is immoral that the Tories and Labour, the Red Tories support wasting billions of pounds on WMD like Trident. We have people in Wales begging on the streets, the working poor and people deciding between heating and eating, this is intolerable – it’s immoral!

“Our health service despite its hardworking, dedicated and devoted staff on the ground is being mismanaged – we must stop paying tens of thousands in wages to unanswerable middle-management! Let’s spend it on the patients who need every penny for a better quality of life.

“Together friends, we can, we will and we must create a stronger Wales!”

Following his speech, Vaughan added:

“It truly was a great event which was well attended. I would like to thank the public who attended and to all who arranged the event. I would also like to thank the staff for their generous welcome and warmth.”

At the event, guest speaker Dafydd Wigley also delivered a lecture which was based on the aftermath of the Scottish referendum and ‘What next for Wales’.

Following his lecture, Dafydd Wigley added:

“I am hugely impressed with the enthusiasm of the Plaid Cymru team in Llanelli and the dynamism Vaughan Williams brings to the campaign.

“He brings in a new vigour which is what Llanelli needs in its next MP.

“I believe Plaid can win Llanelli – a result which would galvanize Welsh politics, in the same way as the SNP’s success has given Scotland such a boost.”
