Scarlets captain Scott Williams spoke after his side’s defeat to Ulster at Kingspan Stadium on Saturday evening in the European Rugby Champions Cup and said that they collectively as a team owe the region’s coaches a performance on the weekend.
Scarlets welcome Ulster to Parc y Scarlets on Sunday afternoon with rounds three and four adding the back-to-back element to the competition.
Speaking after the game on Saturday evening Williams said: “We’ll look hard at ourselves individually and as a team.
“We owe the coaches a performance.
“We set the standard in the first round and we’re really disappointed in our performance here.
“The good thing is we get to put things right on the weekend.”
Ulster took advantage of a penalty count that was weighted heavily against Scarlets and made the region’s mistakes count in their favour.
Williams went on to say: “There were too many individual errors, penalties and missed tackles.
“Ulster punished us and we can’t afford to allow them to do that. I don’t think we need to say much – it’s more about actions than words now. We need a big performance on the weekend.
“It’s going to be tough, we have to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we win all of our games now.”
Williams finished by saying; “The boys are looking forward to next week. If the game was tomorrow the boys would be up for it just to put things right.
“Next week’s going to be massive, especially with our home run so far – we have to keep that up.”
Scarlets v Ulster, Sunday 14th December kick-off 5.15pm.
