The award-winning Llanelli-based firm of architects, the Lewis Partnership, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
And the firm, which already operates throughout South Wales, is looking for further expansion in its anniversary year.
“This is a wonderful milestone for us here at the Lewis Partnership,” said managing director Philip Lewis, the son of company founder Wynford Lewis.
“We pride ourselves on being a business where quality counts. That philosophy has stood us in good stead for the last 20 years – and we sincerely hope it will continue to do so for the next 20.
“Our roots are very firmly here in Llanelli, but our portfolio of work extends over a far wider area – South, West and Mid Wales, with many of our projects located in Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys.”
The Lewis Partnership currently has eight staff (2 Architects, 3 technologists and 3 administrators) based in Park Crescent near Llanelli Leisure Centre.
Mr Lewis added: “We’ve earned a reputation for maintaining the highest levels of professional standards and endeavour to bring a progressive approach to every project we undertake.
“We’re called a partnership for a reason; that’s precisely how we like to engage with our clients, discussing projects in an open, fair and professional manner.
“We have gained certification to the International Quality Assurance & Environmental Standards BS EN ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO 14001:2004.
“Our client list ranges from Housing Associations to Dyfed Powys Police.
“We are the only Carmarthenshire-based Architectural firm to be appointed to the South and West Wales Consultants Framework which covers Carmarthenshire, Neath / Port Talbot, Swansea and Pembrokeshire.
“During the past 12 months, we have secured projects with the prestigious clients such as, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority, Dyfed Powys Police, Gwalia Housing Association, Neath and Port Talbot County Borough Council, following stiff competition with other much larger architectural firms.
“We have also attained follow-on work with the likes of Jenkins Bakery, Carmarthenshire County Council, Pembrokeshire County Council and Bro Myrddin Housing Association.
“We’ve recently tendered for the Pembrokeshire Housing consultancy framework and were successful in what will be a 3 year appointment. Again, we were the only Carmarthenshire based practice to be accepted.
“We are capable of undertaking any type of architectural work and have great experience in designing anything as diverse as brand new schools, fire stations, private and social housing as well as small domestic extensions.”
Key projects from this year have been the refurbishment of Llanelli Fire Station, the refurbishment of the Selwyn Samuel Indoor Bowling Stadium in Llanelli, multiple dwellings in Pembrokeshire and site works have just commenced on a new £5 million School in Cwmann.
The refurbishment of the St Pauls residential complex in Llanelli will commence shortly with a value of £1.4 million.
New projects for the forthcoming year include new housing in Burry Port, Llanelli and Pembrokeshire together with a long term leisure/residential project in Laugharne.
The Lewis Partnership has won multiple awards such as the prestigious Prince of Wales Awards for conservation work, together with numerous ‘built in’ Quality Awards for various building types.
Mr Lewis added: “We have been able to be very competitive throughout the recession – and that is down to our firm family foundations and a commitment to a quality, affordable service.”
