A Gwynedd Councillor, who represents Pwllheli North ward on Gwynedd Council, has announced he will sit as a WNP Councillor.

Cllr Bullard becomes the latest elected official to join the party after Cllr Martyn Peters on Neath Port Talbot Council joined, as well as four Councillors in Wales’ capital city. Party leader, Neil McEvoy also sits in the National Assembly for Wales for the WNP.

Cllr Bullard was first elected in 2017 after defeating a sitting Plaid Cymru Councillor, gaining 56% of the vote.

In announcing his decision, Cllr Bullard said:

“Pwllheli is exactly the sort of town that can benefit from the WNP. It’s a great place to live but we could be doing so much more.

“Every summer we’re a place that tourists flock to but outside of the summer months our town is too easily overlooked. The Labour Government in Cardiff seems to have little interest in us and Gwynedd Council has brought in policies that don’t benefit us.

“Local community schools across Gwynedd have closed because of Plaid Cymru. And their Local Development Plan has done nothing to progress our language. If anything, it’s led to an overwhelming number of second homes here. Local people are priced out of owning homes and young people see little option other than to move away.

“The Council’s reaction to the Coronavirus outbreak has been slow, to say the least. The Licencing Committee did not immediately issue orders for tourist sites to close and the Police and Crime Commissioner was so slow to react that local locals had to take it upon themselves to keep tourists away.

“The simple truth is, Pwllheli and Gwynedd are not just here for other people’s enjoyment. We are proud Welsh communities.

“We need a party that fights for the people who live here year round. We need a party that doesn’t hold back when it comes to defending our interests. We need a party that puts community sovereignty at the heart of what it does. But most of all we need a party that recognises the enormous potential that Gwynedd and Pwllheli have.

“The WNP is that party and I’m really looking forward to seeing the party grow and develop in Gwynedd.”

WNP leader Neil McEvoy said:

“I’m thrilled that a Councillor of the quality of Dylan Bullard has joined our growing movement. He defeated a sitting Plaid Councillor in 2017 and has been robustly standing up for the interests of Pwllheli North ever since.

“He’s a really passionate guy with great ideas. I was very impressed with the way he stood up for his community during this pandemic and demanded that Gwynedd Council take action to keep tourists away.

“With the addition of Dylan to our team we are demonstrating that the WNP truly is a national party for Wales. We’re now representing people from coast to coast on three local authorities and I anticipate more community champions like Dylan joining us in the near future.”

Cynghorydd o Wynedd yn ymuno â’r Blaid Genedlaethol

Mae Cynghorydd o Wynedd, sy’n cynrychioli ward Gogledd Pwllheli ar Gyngor Gwynedd wedi cyhoeddi y bydd yn eistedd o hyn ymlaen fel Cynghorydd Y Blaid Genedlaethol.

Y Cynghorydd Bullard yw’r aelod etholedig diweddaraf i ymuno â’r blaid ar ôl i’r Cynghorydd Martyn Peters ar Gyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot ymuno, yn ogystal â phedwar Cynghorydd ym mhrif ddinas Cymru. Mae arweinydd y blaid, Neil McEvoy hefyd yn eistedd yng Nghynulliad Cenedlaethol Cymru ar ran Y Blaid Genedlaethol.

Etholwyd y Cynghorydd Bullard nôl yn 2017 ar ôl trechu Cynghorydd Plaid Cymru, gan ennill 56% o’r bleidlais.

Wrth gyhoeddi ei benderfyniad, dywedodd y Cynghorydd Bullard:

“Pwllheli yw’r union fath o dref a all elwa o’r Blaid Genedlaethol. Mae’n lle gwych i fyw ond gallem fod yn gwneud cymaint mwy.

“Bob haf mae’r twristiaid yn heidio yma ond y tu hwnt i hynny, mae’n rhy hawdd anwybyddu ein tref. Ymddengys nad oes gan y Llywodraeth Lafur yng Nghaerdydd fawr o ddiddordeb ynom ac mae Cyngor Gwynedd wedi cyflwyno polisïau nad ydynt o fudd i ni.

“Mae ysgolion cymunedol lleol ledled Gwynedd wedi cau oherwydd Plaid Cymru. Ac nid yw eu Cynllun Datblygu Lleol wedi gwneud dim i ddatblygu ein hiaith. Os rhywbeth, mae wedi arwain at nifer cynyddol o dai haf yma. Mae pobl leol yn cael eu prisio allan o fod yn berchen ar gartrefi ac mae pobl ifanc yn cael eu gorfodi i symud i ffwrdd.

“Mae ymateb y Cyngor i ddyfodiad y Coronafirws wedi bod yn araf, a dweud y lleiaf. Ni chyhoeddodd y Pwyllgor Trwyddedu orchmynion ar unwaith i safleoedd twristiaeth gau ac roedd Comisiynydd yr Heddlu a Throsedd mor araf i ymateb nes bod yn rhaid i bobl leol gymryd arnynt eu hunain i gadw twristiaid i ffwrdd.

“Y gwir amdani yw, nad ydi Pwllheli a Gwynedd yma er mwynhad pobl eraill yn unig. Rydym yn gymunedau balch Cymreig.

“Rydyn ni angen plaid sy’n barod i ymladd dros y bobl sy’n byw yma trwy gydol y flwyddyn. Mae arnom angen plaid na fydd yn dal yn ôl o ran amddiffyn ein buddiannau. Mae angen plaid arnom sy’n rhoi sofraniaeth gymunedol wrth wraidd yr hyn y mae’n ei wneud. Ond yn anad dim, mae angen plaid arnom sy’n cydnabod y potensial enfawr sydd gan Wynedd a Phwllheli.

“Y Blaid Genedlaethol yw’r blaid honno ac rwy’n edrych ymlaen yn fawr at weld y blaid yn tyfu ac yn datblygu yng Ngwynedd.”

Dywedodd arweinydd Y Blaid Genedlaethol, Neil McEvoy:

“Rwyf wrth fy modd bod Cynghorydd o safon Dylan Bullard wedi ymuno â’n mudiad. Trechodd Gynghorydd Plaid Cymru yn 2017 ac mae wedi bod yn ymladd dros fuddianau pobl Gogledd Pwllheli byth ers hynny.

“Mae’n foi angerddol iawn gyda syniadau gwych. Gwnaeth y ffordd y safodd dros ei gymuned yn ystod y pandemig hwn argraff fawr arnaf, gan fynnu bod Cyngor Gwynedd yn gweithredu i gadw twristiaid draw.

“Gyda Dylan yn ymuno â’n tîm gallwn ddangos bod Y Blaid Genedlaethol wir yn blaid genedlaethol i Gymru. Rydyn ni nawr yn cynrychioli pobl o arfordir i arfordir ar dri awdurdod lleol ac rwy’n rhagweld y bydd mwy o hyrwyddwyr cymunedol fel Dylan yn ymuno â ni yn y dyfodol agos. ”
