More than twenty-five years ago, the first couple tied the knot at Walt Disney World and since then, more than 50,000 happy couples have followed suit.

Many couples opt for a Disney wedding because they love the parks but the great thing about a Disney wedding is that couples can choose to show off their love for Disney as much or as little as they’d like.

A Disney wedding is only as ‘cheesy’ as you make it. If you want to dance with Mickey and Minnie at your reception or have a playlist of exclusively Disney songs you can. Couples can choose a more subtle wedding style if they prefer.

Due to Covid-19, Disney Weddings have had to be put on hold for now so why not take some inspiration from the most iconic Disney Weddings of all time.

Purely Diamonds has ranked every wedding on Disney+ based on the venue, dress, hair/makeup, music and guests to reveal the ultimate Disney wedding.

Here’s how the weddings stacked up.

13 Disney Weddings Ranked

Want to know more about the weddings in our study? Here’s some information about these iconic nuptials, as seen on screen.

  1. The Incredibles – The wedding of Mr Incredible & Elastigirl

The wedding of these two superheroes doesn’t go to a flying start with the groom turning up late and making his future wife waiting at the altar for him. When Mr Incredible eventually arrives he gets a good telling off from his other half. With the nuptials taking place in a minimalist church venue, guests only including the superheroes of the world and the dress not making a massive impression on fans this wedding takes last position.

  1. Mulan 2 – Mulan and Shang’s Wedding

Mulan and Shang’s wedding takes second to last place as unfortunately we do not get to see the couple tie the knot, meaning we don’t get a glimpse of the venue or how many guests attended. However, we see Mulan and Shang after their ceremony as Shang combines the family temples. With Mulan’s wedding dress and hair/makeup scoring high in the study.

  1. 101 Dalmatians – Roger & Anita

Understated and simple, Roger and Anita’s wedding is everything a small wedding should be. Set in an elegant chapel with family and friends gathered to watch the ceremony. Perdita and Pongo can’t help getting swept up in the emotion of it all and recite their vows as well.

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – Will and Elizabeth’s Wedding

Not the most traditional wedding, Will and Elizabeth’s nuptials take tenth place with their wedding taking place onboard The Black Pearl. The captain of the ship Barbossa marries them during a battle as they fear it’ll be their only chance to tie the knot. With no dress, no time to do her hair and makeup, no guests present, the only thing that gets this wedding to tenth position is the classic music playing in the background!

  1. Wreck it Ralph – Sergeant Calhoun and Felix Jr.

Sergeant Calhoun was engaged to Dr. Brad Scott (a scientist of Hero’s Duty) in the events before the story, however we find out that on their wedding day, Calhoun forgot to do a perimeter check and a large Cy-Bug flew into the chapel through the window, eating and killing Dr.Brad. Calhoun has since been traumatized by the scene and has become a bit of a spiteful woman, but soon changes her attitude when she becomes smitten with Felix. With her nuptials to Felix going more smoothly the wedding takes ninth position with the venue, dress and hair and makeup scoring relatively high in the study.

  1. Robin Hood – Maid Marian & Robin Hood

Robin Hood and Maid Marian’s wedding takes eighth place as we only see the outside of their wedding venue which appears to be a chapel. However, it appears their wedding was a true community affair. Although we never actually see all the guests that attended the wedding it appears that the nuptials of the fox bride and groom was a special day for the whole township of Nottingham and Sherwood.

  1. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – Sue and Reed

Sue and Reed’s wedding is sadly interrupted when the Silver Surfer enters the Earth’s atmosphere and approaches New York City where their ceremony is being held on a roof terrace. Luckily their guests were in safe hands with the whole fantastic four team being at the wedding. Sue’s wedding dress was a hit though with many people wanting to recreate the look. Unfortunately, not much else about this wedding went to plan putting it into seventh position.

  1. Up – Carl and Ellie

This Disney classic begins with Carl meeting his soul-mate Ellie as children and they grow-up and marry and live in the restored clubhouse. The couples wedding day is short with only a small amount of family and friends present. The venue is a quaint chapel and Ellie’s dress is simple yet elegant. The classic ‘Married Life’ soundtrack playing in the background has become a hit with viewers and has been listened to millions of times – allowing this heart-warming wedding to take sixth place.

  1. Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones – Padme & Anakin’s Wedding

The secret wedding of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala took place at the Varykino lake retreat in Naboo’s Lake Country. It was simple and modest but featured beautiful scenery. The only witnesses to the marriage were the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. This has resulted in the wedding taking fifth position with the venue size, dress, hair/makeup and wedding soundtrack in the background scoring highly in the study.

  1. The Princess and the Frog – Tiana & Naveen

Tiana and Naveen’s wedding is as unique as their personalities with the setting of the ceremony being held in a swamp surrounded by their animal friends – the ultimate destination wedding for two frogs that have fallen in love under a voodoo curse. But have no fear the happily ever after is coming for these two after their first kiss. The kiss breaks the curse and they tie the knot again in a more elegant setting surrounded by their human friends and family.

  1. The Little Mermaid – Ariel & Eric

Humans, a dog, fish, seagulls, crabs, merpeople, and a royal boat! This wedding had it all. The special moment came when Ariel and Eric were able to exchange their vows in front of everyone they cared about, regardless of their species or ability to breathe out of water. The couples nuptials take third position with all aspects scoring highly – this Disney wedding certainly pulled at viewers heart strings.

  1. Aladdin – Aladdin and Jasmine

In the early animated adaptations of Aladdin it takes until the third film installment ‘Aladdin and the King of Thieves’ for Jasmine and Aladdin to finally tie the knot. However, in the live action remake in 2019 Aladdin and Jasmine are married at the end of the film. The nuptials of these two popular Disney characters takes second place as they score highly on all aspects. With a grand palace as their venue surrounded by hundreds of guests and Jasmine’s dress and hair and makeup making a lasting impression on fans.

  1. Cinderella – Cinderella and her Prince Charming

The Wedding of Cinderella and Prince Charming takes number one spot in the study with Cinderella being one of the most iconic Disney Princesses of all time. Cinderella possesses the grace, poise, and kindness to pull off all the extravagant features her wedding entailed. The castle venue, the beautiful gown, classic hair and makeup, hundreds of guests, the horse-drawn carriage, the royal guard, and the cheering crowds all make for the perfectly elegant affair.

Methodology:

Using a list of weddings that you can watch via Disney+, we scored the scenes featuring Cinderella, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and the Frog, Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, Up, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Robin Hood, Wreck it Ralph, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, 101 Dalmatians, Mulan 2, and The Incredibles out of a possible score of 20.

We ranked them based on the elements that matter most to brides or people planning weddings such as; the venue size, the dress (calculated based on how many times people have searched for the dress per month), hair and makeup (calculated on how many views the recreation of the wedding day look has on Youtube), wedding music (calculated on how many listens the music has had on Youtube), and how many guests attended the wedding.
