British Gas Energy Trust invests additional fund for the vulnerable

The British Gas Energy Trust has announced that it will be investing an additional £20 million into assisting vulnerable customers in target areas of Great Britain. Additional funds, which form part of a £35 million package, will be distributed during 2011 and 2012 through grants to help clear gas and electricity debts with British Gas and grants to clear other essential household debts or to purchase essential household items. The programme is open to applications from voluntary sector organisations, registered charities and not-for-profit groups operating in the following areas (identified by the Government indices of deprivation): Â

England: Yorkshire and the Humber, Liverpool and Nottingham.

Scotland: Borders.

Wales: South Wales
 The Trust actively encourages bids that involve partnerships and collaborative working between organisations. Levels of individual grants are not stipulated by the Trust. Applications may be submitted at any time.
