With a 32-14 victory over Connacht on Sunday afternoon the Scarlets’ aims of reaching the top six remain alive with a trio of clashes against Irish opposition still to come.

A bonus point win against Connacht Rugby on Sunday at Parc y Scarlets saw Wayne Pivac’s men move into seventh position and are equal on points with sixth placed Connacht.

Scarlets will welcome Munster to Parc y Scarlets this Saturday, 21st February, travel to Belfast to take on Ulster on Friday 27th February before welcoming Leinster to the Parc on Saturday 7th March.

Speaking after the four-try victory on Sunday Pivac said; “It keeps everything alive. Obviously, we’re striving to finish as high up the table as we can. We’ve got to make sure we back this up with another good performance next week against Munster.

“This has definitely kept us alive and Edinburgh at home is going to be another big one.

“We’ve got some big matches coming up and we’re just taking it week by week. But we do realise we have to get as many points as we can from Irish opposition.”

James Davies’ try after 50 minutes secured a bonus point for Pivac’s men, he went on to say; “To get the bonus point was special. We had good weather. We knew it was going to be like that in the week and we trained very well.

“Resting some of the boys for the Sale match paid dividends. We were full of running, which we needed to be because it was a big game. I’m very, very pleased to get the result.”
