This summer the Local Government Association will host its first-ever virtual Annual Conference as councils continue to lead local communities through the COVID-19 crisis.

The scale of the economic, environmental and community challenges that we will face as a result of the pandemic cannot be under-estimated. It is vital that councils have the funding and powers to support the economic recovery as emergency measures are lifted and we come through this crisis. A series of webinars featuring keynote speakers – including Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick and Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer – will debate how local government can be empowered to support the unprecedent social and economic challenge we face as a result of COVID-19.

Tuesday 30 June, 10.00am – 11.40am

The LGA will be launching our discussion paper ‘Re-Thinking Local: A Vision for the Future which sets out ideas for locally led regeneration and rejuvenation alongside keynote addresses from LGA Chairman Cllr James Jamieson and Senior Vice Chair Cllr Nick Forbes.
