Two people have been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply in Llanelli’s town hall gardens.

A PCSO was carrying out proactive patrols in the town centre when he was flagged down by a member of the public at around 6.45pm on Saturday, June 20.

The person said there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from four people sitting on a bench near the town hall.

A woman in the group was seen to be hiding a can of Strongbow, which she was asked to hand over as the area is covered by a Public Spaces Protection Order prohibiting the consumption of alcohol.

Llanelli Sergeant Matthew Langley said: “As the group stood up to leave, a small container fell to the floor, which was found to have cannabis inside.

“Two PCs arrived and arrested a 28-year-old man at the scene. One of the women tried to leave, taking a carrier bag with her, which was then found to contain a quantity of drugs.

“Warrants were later executed at addresses in Llys y Gof and George Street, Llanelli, under the Misuse of Drugs Act, with a number of items seized.

“The woman who had been with the group at town hall gardens was located, and was in possession of a number of tablets. She was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.”

The two people arrested have been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.
