Ditch the duvet, banish the blanket, pack away the pillow – and Boycott Your Bed for vulnerable children

Action for Children is asking families, friends and colleagues in Wales to ‘Boycott your Bed’ on Friday 21 August 2020 along with others up and down the country, to raise money for some of the most vulnerable children across the UK. With the nation in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the charity is launching a brand-new, lockdown-friendly event to help some of the families and children who are suffering the most.

Whether you rough it in the garden, pitch a tent under your table, or bunk down in the bathroom, participants are invited to spend the night in an unusual place in their homes or gardens.

There’ll be virtual entertainment and activities on the night, connecting people with others bedding down in unusual places across the UK – with a celebrity and special guest line up for the night to be announced soon!

Action for Children runs 476 services across the UK, helping more than 387,000 children, young people and families every year. Now, those people need help more than ever.

Action for Children’s deputy CEO Carol Iddon said: “Every person who Boycotts their Bed this summer will be helping us reach children and families in desperate need. Who are worried about their future. And who don’t know when they’ll feel safe and happy again.

“Our key workers have been going above and beyond to support vulnerable families through the pandemic, whether by delivering essentials to families’ doors, adapting their services to reach those who can’t come to them, or caring for children who can’t be in their own homes. So please ditch your duvet, banish your blanket and have some fun raising money so that Action for Children can help these families in need.”
