As shops and town centre businesses reopen, Neath Port Talbot Council is launching its #NPTbuylocal campaign to support and promote local businesses and to encourage and welcome customers back to town centres.
Retailers have worked hard to put measures in place to keep shoppers safe and give them the confidence they need to browse and buy again.
As part of the campaign, the council is producing a series of short social media videos featuring a selection of independent town centre traders.
The first showcases the great range of shops in Pontardawe.
Regular customers will recognise some familiar faces as they explain how they are welcoming customers back and what they have to offer. These include: Emma Doyle of Sweet Williams, handmade gift shop; Melanie Humphries from Village Cards & Gifts and Mike Frost from Frosty‘s Greengrocers and Organic Food Store.
The wider aims of the campaign are to encourage residents to support local traders wherever they can; whether that is visiting town centres as restrictions are being relaxed, or to take advantage of delivery or ‘Click & Collect’ services that some traders now provide.
The council plans to develop the campaign by offering all local retail businesses a free listing on the new dedicated #NPTbuylocal website it’s currently developing: www.nptbuylocal.co.uk
Neath Port Talbot Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development, Councillor Annette Wingrave, said: “The coronavirus emergency has shown us how strong our communities are and how we can all come together to support each other.
“Local businesses have played a crucial role during lockdown helping to supply food and other essential goods and services to vulnerable people and the community.
“By launching the #NPTbuylocal campaign we want to show our continued support for these businesses by encouraging residents to buy local, for the benefit of our local economy, environment, wellbeing and communities.
“Please get involved and show your support by liking and sharing #NPTbuylocal on social media.”

Croeso’n ôl i Bontardawe!
Wrth i siopau a busnesau canol trefi ailagor mae Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot yn lansio’i ymgyrch #CnPTprynunlleol i gefnogi a hybu busnesau lleol ac i annog a chroesawu cwsmeriaid yn ôl i ganol trefi.
Mae manwerthwyr wedi gweithio’n galed i osod mesurau ar waith i gadw siopwyr yn ddiogel a rhoi’r hyder iddynt sydd ei angen er mwyn pori a phrynu unwaith eto.
Fel rhan o’r ymgyrch, mae’r cyngor yn cynhyrchu cyfres o fideos byr ar gyfer y cyfryngau cymdeithasol sy’n dangos detholiad o fasnachwyr annibynnol o ganol trefi.
Mae’r fideo cyntaf yn y gyfres yn dangos y dewis ardderchog o siopau sydd ar gael ym Mhontardawe.
Bydd cwsmeriaid rheolaidd yn adnabod sawl wyneb cyfarwydd wrth iddyn nhw esbonio sut maen nhw’n croesawu cwsmeriaid yn ôl, a beth maen nhw’n ei gynnig. Yn eu plith mae: Emma Doyle o Sweet Williams, siop anrhegion a wnaed â llaw; Melanie Humphries o Village Cards & Gifts a Mike Frost o Siop Fwyd Organig a Groser Frosty’s.
Nod ehangach yr ymgyrch yw annog trigolion i gefnogi masnachwyr lleol bob cyfle allan nhw; boed hynny drwy ymweld â chanol trefi wrth i gyfyngiadau gael eu llacio, neu drwy fanteisio ar wasanaethau cludo neu ‘Clicio a Chasglu’ y mae rhai masnachwyr bellach yn ei gynnig.
Mae’r cyngor yn bwriadu datblygu’r ymgyrch drwy gynnig cyfle i bob busnes manwerthu lleol gofrestru ar restr rad ac am ddim newydd ar wefan benodol #CnPTprynunlleol sydd wrthi’n cael ei datblygu ar hyn o bryd: www.nptbuylocal.co.uk
Meddai Aelod Cabinet Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot dros Adfywio a Datblygu Cynaliadwy, y Cynghorydd Annette Wingrave: “Mae argyfwng coronafeirws wedi dangos i ni mor gryf yw ein cymunedau a sut y gall pawb ohonom ddod at ein gilydd i ddangos cefnogaeth i’n gilydd.
“Mae busnesau lleol wedi chwarae rhan hanfodol yn ystod y cloi mawr gan helpu i gyflenwi bwyd a nwyddau a gwasanaethau angenrheidiol eraill i bobl fregus a’r gymuned.
“Drwy lansio ymgyrch #CnPTprynunlleol rydym ni eisiau dangos ein cefnogaeth barhaus i’r busnesau hyn drwy annog trigolion i brynu’n lleol, er budd ein heconomi leol, ein hamgylchedd ein llesiant a’n cymunedau.
“Cymerwch ran os gwelwch yn dda a dangoswch eich cefnogaeth drwy hoffi a rhannu #CnPTprynunlleol ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol.”
