Four people have been fined for fly-tipping at the recycling banks at Dafen pond in Llanelli.
The council’s environmental enforcement unit has received a number of complaints of fly-tipping at the site since Christmas.
As a result, four people have been issued with fixed penalty notices for £75. If they don’t pay, they could be prosecuted in court where the maximum fine is £2,500.
Officers will continue to carry put patrols in the area.
CCTV cameras are also used to monitor recycling sites where there are problems with fly-tipping.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “These sites are important facilities for communities and only glass and cans should be taken to this site for recycling. However, people are dumping all kinds of rubbish. This will not be tolerated and anyone caught will be prosecuted.”
Unfortunately, fly-tipping is becoming an increasing problem at recycling sites across the county. It is hoped the fine will act as a warning to others and encourage people to be more responsible.
