A week of exciting events

2020 continues to be a challenging year. As restrictions and regulations continue to evolve around the country, many of the things we enjoy have been negatively impacted. We have heard from our employees and our customers how hard it has been and continues to be, and I certainly feel like we are all in need of a little lift.

This morning we announced a series of events taking place next week for your enjoyment. Our website will host daily football coaching sessions with Peter Crouch and Lucy Bronze, along with a holiday story club featuring Happy Readers author Tom Fletcher, to give families some fun, free entertainment during the school holidays. The week culminates with ‘I’m Lovin’ It Live’; seven concerts from some of the UK’s biggest music stars including Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi and Jess Glynne.

The music events will be available to registered users of the My McDonald’s app, streaming from Friday evening, and all the details are available on our website. Be sure to download and register so you get your ‘front row seat’ for the event.

As a business we are committed to supporting and serving the communities in which we operate. In these challenging times, we know it is more important than ever to support those most in need. Today we have also announced funding for FareShare to redistribute one million meals to families facing very tough situations over the coming weeks.

When we temporarily closed our restaurants in March, our people, franchisees and suppliers rallied to provide surplus food and support to food banks and charities. We were pleased that we were able to donate surplus food through FareShare and other organisations earlier this year, and we admire the fantastic work that FareShare continues to do.

We will send you further updates on these activities over the coming days – we hope you enjoy the events throughout the week.

Kind regards,

Paul Pomroy
Chief Executive Officer, McDonald’s UK and Ireland
