Letter to Editor – NSPCC celebrates Llanybydder volunteers who have raised more than £135k for the children’s charity

Dear Editor,

The passion and dedication of our volunteers at NSPCC Cymru has always amazed me. In tough times, our volunteers continue to pledge their support so the charity can still be here for children when they need it most through services such as Childline.

I have had the pleasure to support our volunteers in Llanybydder who over the years have held a variety of fundraising events and taken it in turns to run our community charity shop there each week. Since the local fundraising committee was first formed the volunteers have raised more than £135,000 for NSPCC Cymru – a huge amount that will have made a difference to the lives of countless children.

The shop has remained closed since the national lockdown in March, and now due to new legislation and guidelines we’ve had to take the difficult decision not to reopen. I want to take the chance to celebrate and thank every one of our volunteers who have contributed to the success of the shop and to the community for supporting over so many years.

Our gratitude goes to Gwen Jones and all the volunteers at Llanybydder for their dedication, hard work and support over many years. It has been my pleasure to work with them all, and I am so grateful that NSPCC Cymru will continue to be represented within the area by Heather Jones and our network of supporters.
