– Sexual wellness brand LELO releases a Sex Toy Guide For Beginners in hope of unlocking some self love this lockdown –

With lockdown rearing ahead and various new rules being implemented across the nation, it comes as no surprise that Brits are in need of a little stress relief. So it feels appropriate that today, November 4th, is National Sex Toy Day – a holiday for celebrating the toys that help us reach sexual climax, one of the best forms of stress relief there is.

New research* from sexual wellness brand LELO reveals nearly half (41%) of Brits have never used a sex toy before. And for those who have, one in ten didn’t start using a sex toy until they were 45 years old.

Surprisingly, it’s Brits who are dating (42%), living with a partner (36%), in a relationship (41%) or in a polyamorous relationship (54%) who are more likely to use a sex toy by themselves than Brits who are single (32%). And interestingly, the sexuality most likely to use a sex toy is those who identify as pansexual.

And although females very much take the lead when it comes to self love and sex toys, one in seven (14%) males admit to ditching the old rub and tug an choosing a sex toy for some self stimulation.  Increasingly some men are even turning to chastity toys whose devices will limit their ability to play.

Getting off isn’t easy these days. Especially so if you’re following the government rules and not mixing with other households indoors, which deems casual sex illegal for anyone living in England. But no matter who you are, what you do, or what you’re into, there’s a sex toy out there for you.

Whether you’re looking at spending this new incarnation of lockdown seeking pleasure on your own or trying to find a new and exciting ways to kill time with your partner as the nights grow longer, sexual wellness brand LELO have teamed up with sex and relationship expert Kate Moyle to reveal the top 10 sex positions for beginners:

1. Hands free. Remote controlled toys like the ‘Tiani 3’ are a great way for couples to explore giving control to the other; with one arm of the toy designed for clitoral stimulation, and the other for simultaneous penetrative use. Encouraging the partner using the toy to lie back on a bed with the other partner is out the direct line of sight will also add to the suspense of not knowing what’s going to happen next.

2. On your front. This position can work for both male and female sex toys. Positioning the sex toy between two pillows on your bed and then lying on your front, using the sex toy to stimulate you.

3. In the bath. Check the sex toy you are using is 100% waterproof (LELO toys are all 100% waterproof including the Sona 2) and then use the sensation of water to mix it up, for example turning on the handheld shower or the tap, and you can also swap between the shower head and your sex toy or use them simultaneously.

4. Double up. A prostate massager like the ‘Hugo‘ can add intensity and sensation to partnered sex. It’s also hands free so your partner can take control; but using it in a position like the missionary position can really mix it up.

5. All over massage. Using a vibrator like the ‘Smart Wand’ for an all over body massage, won’t just help you to relax but can build up desire and arousal by teasing. Running along the inner thighs, the lower back and buttocks can build up anticipation which is our most natural aphrodisiac.

6. A cockring like the ‘Tor 2’ that stretches around the penis is great for penetrative sex as it also offers great clitoral stimulation if worn during sex, particularly positions with the woman on top like the cowgirl if you’re a different sex couple; but you can also use it for mutual masturbation or oral sex to add something different.

7. Finger Vibrator. A finger vibrator can be especially helpful for solo fun if you are using lube, as there is nothing more distracting than loosing your grip or slipping just as you edge towards orgasm; but it’s also a great addition to oral sex and can be used all around the vulva.

8.Spooning. Spooning is the perfect position for slow and gentle sex, and a vibrator can be the perfect addition as the ‘big spoon’ is easily able to reach around for clitoral stimulation on the little spoon partner. A bullet vibrator or finger vibrator like the MIA 2 would work really well, and you can start your spooning session at any point and then add in the vibrator, just make sure you have it easily in reach so that you don’t have to scrabble around for it and interrupt your enjoyment.

9. Sitting up on your knees and lowering yourself onto a sex toy can be a great way for vulva and vagina owners to mix it up at home. Using a sex toy with a base so that it can be secured to a surface can help, or standing it up between two pillows can be helpful if you are on your bed.

10. Reverse cowgirl with a handheld vibrator means that you can use it for stimulation on the riding partner, and that you can also use it on the bottom partner on their perineum or testicles for additional sensation. If you are a same sex couple using a strap on then you can also flip around and do cowgirl which offers extra clitoral touch for you both
